Community Awareness
Make a Donation
Opportunities to help children, families, and entire communities address the problem of homelessness are available across a variety of settings. Whether one contributes by volunteering or by bringing attention to the issue of family homelessness in your local schools, the time and effort dedicated to raising awareness is important and extremely valuable.

Healthy Living Center Expansion
Through a partnership with the Toy Industry Foundation, HFH and ICP launched the Healthy Living Center (HLC) expansion project. Based on the after-school programs in place at HFH's American Family Inns, this project is designed to explore the "power of play" for young, homeless children through HLC activity cards, a unique curriculum that exposes children to new areas, while helping them grow through creative, social play.

HFH is currently working with groups in Oklahoma, Virginia, Georgia, and California, conducting site visits and trainings to help each group use HLC according to its own goals and resources. If you are interested in getting involved in this exciting opportunity, please contact us.

Community Forums
HFH recently launched a new initiative, Community Forums, with the goal of facilitating connections among stakeholders within communities nationwide by bringing together individuals and organizations working to end homelessness. These meetings serve as a catalyst for ongoing collaboration, both locally and nationally, in an effort to take practical steps to meet the needs of homeless families efficiently and cost-effectively. Initial discussions identify local interests while continuing communication allows for the integration of national resources and support. Beyond these discussions, interested groups can arrange for specialized trainings (i.e. financial management, budgeting, operations, and evaluations), site visits, and other forms of on-going collaboration. If you are interested in hosting or being involved in a Community Forum, please contact us.

Organize a Drive
HFH accepts donations of new and gently used toys, books, and clothing. If you are interested in organizing a drive in your local school or community to benefit the children and families served by HFH, please contact us.
