ArtWorks Curriculum - Complete Set - $200.00 The ArtWorks curriculum is a series of 12 units that integrate language arts, social studies, dance, drama, music, and the visual arts for elementary school students. The academically rigorous units, which are based on national curriculum standards in each of these subjects, use children's fiction and nonfiction books, CDs, DVDs, and videotapes (purchased seperately) to help students understand and appreciate the arts.  In some ArtWorks units, mathematics and science curriculum standards are also included. The ArtWorks curriculum units are designed to be taught by regular classroom teachers and by educational staff in after-school and literacy programs in shelters and other community facilities. Art and music specialists, who are in short supply, are not required, as any teacher or staff person can implement this curriculum. The 12 ArtWorks units include four designed for grades K-1, four for grades 2-3, and four for grades 4-5. The units may be purchased as a complete set of 12 or by grade level. Healthy Living Center Curricula This set of curricula, designed with the needs of homeless children in mind, was developed over a period of two years by Homes for the Homeless and five other homeless service organizations. Each curriculum was created to provide homeless children with the opportunity for creative, social play in an informal atmosphere. The curricula focus on development through socialization and creativity, while allowing even those children with academic deficits and delays an opportunity for success.  All three curricula offer self-contained activities, which provide flexibility for using the activities in the classroom or in after-school programs.  Each set of 5"x7" spiral-bound activity cards contains age-specific activities for ages 5-7, 8-11, and 12+.  The cards provide an alternative model of achievement and the activities and games do not depend on academic competency for success.  Finally, the curricula are designed to be non-competitive, encouraging group success and positive outcomes.

FutureLink Afterschool Curriculum - $50.00 FutureLink is a computer-based curriculum that helps instructors engage teens, ages 13-18, in academically enriching after-school activities. It bridges the "digital divide" by giving homeless teens the same access to technology as their non-homeless peers. This program uses problem solving and reasoning skills to challenge teens to reach a higher level in the classroom, while at the same time remaining sensitive and flexible to the situation of homelessness. This curriculum contains over 20 lessons and aims to improve students' technology, art, literacy, social studies, math, and science skills. Brownstone Afterschool Curriculum - $50.00 This curriculum is designed to enhance academic growth and foster self-esteem for homeless youth. It begins with an evaluation of the changes students have experienced over the past few months. For many, this will introduce issues surrounding moving into a new living situation and enable students to evaluate and consider some of the challenges found in transitioning to a new environment. Students, ages 5-12, can use the backdrop of starting a new school year and the shift in seasons as sources of enrichment for the curriculum. Change, broadly considered, allows students to study issues as diverse as growing up, evolution, plant life, time, and historic revolutions. The basic premise underlying the curriculum is that the forces that shape our lives are constantly changing. Practical Living / Useful Skills Workshop - $25.00 This curriculum is designed to enhance the independent living skills of homeless and low-income families. All of the workshops strive to help participants build self-esteem, create personal support networks, learn practical skills and information, and develop linkages to community resources. TASK Curriculum - $50.00 The Technology, Advanced Skills, and Knowledge (TASK) program equips participants with advanced technology skills as well as specialized training geared toward the demands of specific employers. The program, taught in a classroom setting, places special emphasis on personal attention, hands-on tutorials, and simulated office situations. By offering low-income and homeless adults a technology education, TASK bridges the "digital divide" by providing participants with the confidence and tangible skills they need to succeed in an office environment. Train and Gain Manual - $50.00 Homes for the Homeless' innovative on-site employment program, the Train and Gain (TAG) Employment Program, provides job training specially designed for homeless families. The TAG program succeeds by addressing the following six elements: comprehensive family assessments, quality child care and early education programs, parenting education services, preventive health services, employment training and comprehensive case management, and after-care services. Different phases of the program include "Phase I: The Occupational Exploration Workshop," "Phase II: The Internship," and "Phase III: The Job Search / Post-Graduation Assistance."

Together In Learning - $75.00 This curriculum has been created to provide homeless families with opportunities to explore together the richness of language, books, and literacy. The Together In Learning (TIL) curriculum regards literacy as much more than the ability to read. In order to be literate in today's society, an individual must understand mathematical concepts, be able to read maps and charts, and possess basic historical, scientific, and cultural knowledge. While the TIL curriculum incorporates many elements of successful literacy models, the program grew directly out of a shelter environment and is designed for use with homeless families living in emergency or transitional housing. Units covered by this curriculum include "My Self," "My Family," "My Community," and "My World."
